Oh yeah I agree, its just that "Related" is quite a strong word, can be used to justify Europeans being related to Africans and its technically true out of context. Ive heard the Ainu were ANE dominant population who didnt cross over the land bridge to Americas and stayed behind is that true? Also aren't the Ainu marginalised so they shouldn't be making up a huge subset of the Jap pop

Nobody knows exactly. Majority of Native American Y-haplogroups consist of Q and C, which are northern in origin. Q is more western-Eurasian (maybe Siberian) aligned, while C is eastern-Eurasian aligned. Ainu people had paternal haplogroup D, which is really only found in the Japanese archipelagos, Tibeto-Burman populations, and the Andamanese. Also a large overlap maternally.

Make out the information how you want to do. I don't know. Also the Ainu influence on modern Japanese populations is definitely there.
