I was sitting in the Athens airport lounge last year, and this Croatian mother and little child sit with me.

This means I understand what they're saying, but they have zero clue that I do because it's an international area.

The kid starts saying a million times: "Is uncle mad?" referring to me.

"Mom is he mad?"

And I'm very upset that this toddler in a stroller is calling me a crazy person.

So their entire stay consists of him saying: "Mom is uncle mad?" and the mom repeating: "No no. He's not. Maybe he's tired."

"Uncle is not mad?"

Then me mean-mugging the 1 year old, and similar psycho behavior I'm known for.

"Un-cle, un-cle!" he would keep repeating to his mom and himself.

("Chico" in Croatian, which is another coincidence)

Anyway after they leave, I realize the kid didn't mean "is he insane" but "is he angry."

So I had been hating on a baby for no reason.

Yeah that was disturbing. The mom leaves for a sec and naturally the baby stares at me wide-eyed and smiling. But I try to give him the intense hateful stare. I'm truly out of my mind.

Well, I have my deadpan Dead Eyes look, but it just signifies deep thinking/maturity, tiredness and maybe dysthymia.

It doesn't mean I'm rude.

This waitress in Nice also said to me: "Smile! Just smile!" So I reported her to the hotel for rudeness.

Should have said something like 'do I look mad son??' then go back to acting like tourist when mom came back
