How was I depressed at 19 years old?

In retrospective, every problem seems solveable. Everything that seemed "impossible" then seems possible now.

Youth really doesn't matter, I believe. Who cares if you had a bad youth? All that matters is how you react to it later.

I think that, contrary to what Hollywood slop tells us, the teenage years aren't supposed to be fun. That's why all the "teenagers" in Hollywood movies are actors in their mid 20's, sometimes 30's.

At 19, you should have a strong resistance to depression. You really need to cope. Coping is a good thing.

The last thing you should cate about at that age is how you look, besides the obvious aspect of taking cate about your appearance.

Oh, it's so much better to give in to a depressive mindset. I've been through such intense depression and feelings of total meaninglessness, that I can see the prison I'm in, without being able to fully escape it.

You on the other hand are in the prison, while not even being aware of the fact that you are in a prison. So, you are the one lying to yourself. The depressive mindset always provides a convenient excuse. People who believe that their depressive mindset is objective reality are the most delusional people on earth.

Think of how many generations of humans gave survived. Imagine if they all had a doomer mindset. Clearly, there are plenty of things to be depressed about, at the same time one has to handle it and deal with it.

That's why I have more respect for drug users than people who let depression control their life. It's better to be a junkie than a "depressive".

And yes, coping is always the strategy.

bad youth sets the stage for rotten adulthood ngl. coping doesnt change the scenery and situation at all, it just makes u stagnant and attached to meainglsss things. ya its true most ppl r copers but they just set up the next gen of depressives that will need to cope so on and so forth. if u r ugly in youth u will carry it with u unless u reprogram ur mind in adulthood. phantasms of the past will always follow.

Not really. A bad youth can be beneficial to you, even if it leaves you feeling depressed.

It's just a question of whether or not you react to it like a man and grow from it, or whether you'll stay a boy forever.
