autism has been a godsend for the pharmaceutical & psychiatric industry

imagine a clinical disease, (or was it a mental disorder?), with such a vague set of obscure symptoms, that it needs to be called a spectrum. there's no test for it, there's no way to disprove you have it once you've been labeled with it, and the person issuing the diagnosis has less credibility than the local fortune teller.

by this criteria, anyone on the planet could be "autistic" on a bad day.

how convenient

i don't believe in conspiracy theories, but there's obviously a huge push to get people to believe this crap. and fart sniffers fall for it

i'm not saying autism isn't real, i'm just saying it should be classified under brain damage instead. funny that autism rates correlate DIRECTLY with the age of the parents.... you know what the cure for brain damage is? that's right, there isn't a cure, and if there was, it's certainly not shitty SSRI pills

maybe one day neuroscience will have the answers, until then i'm not buying it

ill check it out

i'm anti psychiatry too. i wont deny some of it has some basis in reality, but it's way, WAY too unscientific to start using it as a weapon against people/labeling people as this or that as if some quacks word is infallible

nobody even knows for sure their mechanism of action or what the fuck they do, only that they have side effects

To be fair you just described most mental conditions

This is why I think they are all fake

didnt read ... but, 99% of "autists" online are just guys who realized they are losers so they started adopting (pseudo)autistic mannerisms and "interests" to rationalize their inferiority

actual autists function like broken records, scream all the time, have an incredibly narrow comfort zone, are diagnosed at like 4, have countless pointless rituals (way more than than the avg person), have peculiar interests and ... don't fucking spend years ranting about how stupid people who post on twitter or facebook are online

mental illness is definitely real, but psychology doesn't have the answers or the solutions

yeah i never got how its become a fad, nothing quirky, interesting or funny about it

real "autism" (brain damage) just casts a cloud of darkness over you & everyone associated with you

I was flapping my hands and nonverbal at like 2

I don’t consider myself autistic nor did we pursue a diagnosis (thank god). I ended up growing out of the weirdness and i ended up in my late teens just depressed

yeah. you're lucky you never got a diagnosis. the idea that how you behave when you're a retarded kid is going to mirror *exactly* how you behave when you're an adult is so retarded

you can grow out of your autism, but your autism can never grow out of you - assuming you got the dx

I think a lot of autism diagnoses should be CPTSD diagnoses.
