When I went to Santorini last summer (thankfully for only 1 night), I met a 28 year old FOMOcel mtn-but-gymcelled New Zealand guy who was telling me how he was island-hopping (the basic bitch Islands like Mykonos and Ios), drunk 24/7, meeting people at hostels, going to all the bars and clubs he can find. Then I go to him, you can't tell me about partying dude, there are 1 am to 5 pm (yeah pm, not am) afterhours clubs where I live, and drugs/drug combos you've never even heard of. I came here for off-the-beaten path travels, quiet, relaxation and an authentic Greek island experience.

Because I only entered Greece in 2024, I have Mykonos and Athens under my belt.

For mainland Greece: Why not go to Sparta/Mystras and go to Euphoria Retreat for a luxury spa hotel experience. You can say you've been to Pavel Zograf's homeland.











Then try a more obscure island, but one that will still allow you to live luxuriously. Folegandros has many luxury options, and just the right amount of tourism in September (not much). Try AVATON or GUNDARI hotels.

I don't mind for example that Athens has Chinese restaurants or McDonalds etc, I hardly consider that city (with what it's now become) to be part of Greece. And when I do extended trips in Greece, I know that if I miss Chinese food, my momentary stop in Athens can fix that
