as you noticed, i was absent from the forum and acted like a normal human being

i was introducing my girlfriend to my closest group of friends and their gfs/wives/bfs, so we had a nice dinner and then played an interactive quiz, which led to a discussion about movies/shows and music

i'm still trying to understand why the fuck would 5 people unanimously and instantly cage and assume i'm trolling when i said matt damon is by far my favorite actor, followed by mark wahlberg and leo. just lol

turns out they think this: damon's movies are unwatchable because he always has to be the smartest man in the world in his movies, and the fact that he directed good will hunting is a bad fucking joke. some of my friends said they checked his bio and got even more pissed when they found out he went to harvard, and that, out of all hollywood superstars, he is that rare one A list actor who seems to be normal, down to earth guy who doesnt give two shits about muh fame

i understand why people think wahlberg is not exactly a top-notch actor and that worshipping leo makes me sound like a teenage girl who just watched the titanic, but the damonpill broke me.

btw, they were so convinced i was just being a jester when i said i know everything about him, watched all his movies and have his filming calendar on imdb as a special bookmark that they started testing me (mentioning his movies they watched, which turned into them googling details about them and then quizzing me on him)

they were legit confused when i started answering their questions before they even finished them, including finishing the sentences of the clips of his movies they singled out. not the "it's not your fault" tier ones, but much less known



am i supposed to have some unknown actor who was once great in some obscure artistic bs movie as my favorite just because i'm a genius? in the end, they got to the conclusion that the only possible reason for me liking him is that i'm basing my identity on being smart and basically relating to/living through him, and that they've never heard anyone mention him among their favorite actors
