Koreans are the most vapid of all asians as well. Everything is an excessive imitation of what they think the ideal is i.e. extreme plastic surgery, their shitty overproduced pop music. Even their "I'm deep" media like Parasite or Squid Game are obvious ripoffs of Japanese or Western media and you can see the wheels turning in the writers' brains in each heavy-handed scene: "this is symbolic of the evils of capitalism! Just like (insert non-Korean media) !!"

can't argue with the fact that koreans are very superficial and they do copy the japanese and the west in just about everything. korean reality tv shows make me want to go ER in downtown seoul. and i yearn for the day the dprk invades, gathers, and executes all the effeminate men

but op is completely wrong about media. what you see from your screen ≠ what is going on in the outside world. you're watching shit fed by the west, not the same stuff Koreans are actually watching. same way that most koreans aren't listening to k-pop, they have their own genres unknown to the West. some of the songs i've posted on here is more accurate as to what they're actually listening to. And if you can't understand the language without captions (which are consistently inaccurate from my opinion), no fucking shit you won't feel the person-to-person connection and emotional investment. but even so, there's a reason k-dramas are popular overseas.

plastic surgery is also overstated. much of the korean plastic surgery rates are concentrated around a few simple procedures, specifically double eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty. they're not altering their entire bodies with the latest BBL procedures and lifting whatever they see, feel, hear, fuck-knows what like in latin america and non-EU west. the Korean surgery pictures, which im sure everyone has seen at this point, are all extreme cases.
