That's because you were trying to compete with him and failed. I'm talking about a normal school environment. The kid most likely to resent a top student is the tryhard student. An indifferent D-student is not gonna care about the A-student much.

What I take issue is resentment against those who have a natural advantage is some field. That's why I said in an older thread: If you are a nerd, it's smart to befriend the jock and vice versa.
