It was mostly a thing in the early 2010s, but it's persisted a decade later so it's like, what is this even about?
Like I legit saw a girl with a shirt "born in 1998, I'm a 90s kid" at a theme park once.
Uh no? Lol
Also nowadays all Gen Z cels just try to mimic fashion trends from the 90s, are into all things 'retro' etc
It's funny cuz I was talking to a girl born in 1989 (I was born late 1990) and she goes to me "we're not even true 90s kids, lol, we weren't even self-aware for most of the early 90s").
Yet these 1998-1999cels think they can call themselves 90s kids
