My cousin couldn't speak until he was 5 or so and has high-functioning autism, I think it was attributed to this? 

He had to do extensive therapy sessions to learn how to speak. 

Btw, now that he is like 16 you can understand he has a problem if you speak with him for longer than 10 seconds. 

So, I'm not sure how high functioning he is. Obviously, the spectrum is pretty large.

the whole thing is a sham, imo. it's such a bullshit disease; the best proof of this is when 'autists' with self awareness, who can functional normally, have been so brainwashed by society(???) that they just say they're 'masking' their symptoms. ??? that is way more in line with OCD than anything. if you're 'autistic', and you're so good at disguising it that nobody can tell.. you get the gist... sorry for going off on a tangent, but it's total crap man
