what are the biggest changes in the last couple of versions?

i stopped regularly playing at 2012, and only briefly tested the 2018 version or so

I mean it's a football game so it will be the same thing every year right? maybe the match engine is better with more realistic buildup going on

many people still playing versions from 10 years ago

main difference is italains and germans can't get a work permit but every single nigger from africa can in a post brexit england

nah, they kept adding new features every year. not always significant, but sometimes there were big changes. you probably havent played the pre-2010 versions so you cant tell the difference. it was called championship manager back then

the problem is, there are so many tactical options and details to set, but it doesnt translate to a great performance. i remember trying to act smart by taking brazil and setting up every specific instruction i could, only to lose almost all matches in the south american qualifications by 2-3:0, while barely making a shot on goal. it's infuriating

i loved playing until i became so successful that the club built a new stadium named after you. managed to do it with hajduk once and felt like i could die happy from that moment on. but it becomes too easy to poach world class regen after a couple of seasons, so you can build a city tier roster with 10-20 million

nothing better than taking a shitty lower league team to UCL glory

it's better to not choose many things when setting up a tactic unless your players are pretty talented and carefully assembled for a very specific play. what you are doing when forcing a detailed tactic on average players is cucking them of their own play. they will perform better if you just let them do their thing

also check the edit

Tyson

and yeah, less is more when it comes to setting up formations and tactics. specify the obvious stuff (like selecting players with a 19 set piece taking to take them), leave  the rest on default.

the best non-obvious tip (to me, at least) i had found on those fm forums was to always check the determination stat of a player. these can usually be trained to develop immensely, even if their starting stats are mediocre

I mean don't expect a player with average attributes to become world class just because his personality and work ethic (hidden attributes) is good but players with good personality are more likely to hit their potential and hit it fast

some wonderkids for example are deemed as fraud among fm players even tho you can see their potential is so high thru game editor but their personality is so bad they wiill never reach it

when signing a wonderkid find the best position for that kid and add +3 to their relevant stats in your mind, if you like what you see then sign him
