what happened this time
a few days ago, i took a teaspoonful of sodium bicarbonate before workout for first time in years. then did pullups as first exercise (with fat gripz, which i havent used in months, and make the exercise much more difficult); then proceeded to hit 16 reps, which i never would have imagined i could get at this bodyweight, never mind with fat gripz.
i track all my reps and this was a definite PR. there is no question that i was stronger that day. the question is if the baking soda was the reason for such noticeable improvement in strength
i do full body these days (push and pull. i dont train legs). this can be an exhausting way to train. i have to pace myself or i'd feel nauseous/exhausted.
however, after taking the sodium bicarbonate, i was able to train at much higher intensity without feeling anywhere close to being as tired as usual
i also took beta alanine for first time in years with the baking soda. could be the main factor. ill try without beta alanine next week.
would be interesting if any gymcels here tried this and reported if it made a noticeable difference

Quote:However, in a study that applied a meta-analytic technique to the results of 29 of the best-conducted studies on the topic, the statistical comparison indicates that not only does sodium bicarbonate enhance athletic performance, but it also improves exercise time to exhaustion by a mean of 27%.
