sinner vs Alcaraz, crazy match
#1
Anyone else watching? These two are the future of men’s tennis. Super high level shot selection so far and rallies. Sinner is proving himself unstoppable this season. First set is over at this point but I hope Alcaraz can force it to a third set

Trying to remain objective id have to give it to djokovic. He’s just the most technically complete player and has eclipsed his peers in terms of stats at this point like weeks at no.1 and grand slams won. I did enjoy the rivalry between Federer and nadal(the former had an elegant play style and highly accurate serve). Novak sort of disrupted that and imo it made fans dislike him, then he always had this indignant response and began to thrive on the booing from the stands lol. History and dichotomy of the “big 3” is interesting. Alcaraz prob has the potential to overtake them all and is most impressive so far when adjusting for age, but it’s early and time will tell(needs to curb some unforced errors and has cramped up more than once in important matches).

i just dont see đoković anywhere near top 10. absolutely nothing outstanding about his game.

after the 5 guys i mentioned, i have kafelnikov, hewitt, roddick, rafter and kuerten.

honorary mentions: del potro and ivanišević, because of his unreal wimbledon W against rafter, as a wild card entry

Def not an uncommon sentiment since his game doesn’t rlly have that panache that federer, nadal etc had.

I wish kyrgios had developed his talent so we could’ve seen his upper limits. Biggest failure to launch in the sport, doesnt even have a coach and goes out drinking the night before a match yet still had members of the big 3 on the ropes at times

jfl, i i was legit about to ask you about your opinion on kyrgios

do you follow some other sports, btw? watching tennis is a high pedigree trait, so i guess probably not

i could see you being into skiing, but i feel like it's become marginal in the last 5-10 years

Not actively. Even atm I mostly tune in to specific players like Alcaraz, djokovic, swiatek, gauff, Shelton.

Olympics can be entertaining I guess. Winter is nice with the halfpipe events and ski jumping.
