The  premise of the theory makes sense

Our ability to move about the world is regulated by our ability to distinguish between inner and outer. This by extension entails the development of the ability to establish limits and borders.  Without them experience is a formless miasma.

limits are meant to be bypassed, rules are meant to be broken etc. One signifier defers to the next. Which is different than having no limits or rules at all. Thats why when all biological limits were lifted the rats got all narcissistic.

Categorical thinking is a mental construct to help us view the world with defined logic
