Despite the authoritarian govt its more free in many ways and the social ettiquette is more relaxed here for sure. Quick access to the rest of asia during non-covid times, tons of great places to visit (hotels/ highspeed rail/ flights are cheap af compared to the UK) - I also make a lot of money now and have a lot of financial freedom, a 3 bedroom apartment in the city, a motorbike, etc.
