I started reading Selfish Gene before realising that it was pretty redundant because the principles had been laid out pretty clearly in a book that I had just read (Origins of Virtue). Would probably be better if I did read it for an even better understanding, I suppose.

It's overrated, in my opinion. I'd heard it mentioned a lot, but it felt underwhelming when I decided to read it.

The first part is the worst, with a long rant coping about determinism and such - Dostoyevsky was a coper at heart which makes his philosophy cringe when it's not dressed up with story and characters (like the remainder of the book, which is decent).

But that's just my opinion. Only 100 pages, so you might as well read it, I guess.

Anyone ever read anything by Yukio Mishima?

Everyone seems to worship that nigga on 4chan /lit/

He has become a bigger meme God author than Pynchon and David foster Wallace on the internet

I read that when I was 13 (or so). One of the last fiction books I read before I stopped reading for like seven years.
