and these are guys with rich clientele, not irrelevant nobodies, obviously.

you won't see them showing up at court defending some loser who stole a pack of cigarettes and 3 perfumes. they come in when the indictment is for human trafficking, extortion, drug and arms dealing and similar stuff.

the funny difference in approach:

good lawyers (those i described) - first step is approaching the prosecutor (the d. a.) and trying to get a deal (read: full admission in exchange for a lower proposed sentence)

shit fringe lawyers: - trying to outsmart everyone in the courtroom with nerd legalese and ending up making everyone hate their client

there are good "intellectual", non cartel-like lawyers too, but they say 2 sentences and stfu

meanwhile, random recessed cuckold having 12 minute opening and closing speeches just to get their client sentenced to the legal maximum, lmao. i do this on purpose when i get a case like that, specially if they act all smug, like they are trying to recreate some suits scene they watched the night before
