pretty much

first you carry the ambitions of young self, calculations you made back in the day

then reality comes and kills you, you try again and again but it's to no avail

you are humbled, like an energetic dog beaten into being still and silent

I'm often reminded of this movie dialogue

Van Cleef: It's a small world.

Kinski: Yes, and very,very bad.

I wouldn't say my thoughts were stranger if anything they've become more set and it takes work to consciously be more open minded to racism xenophobia, especially if you live through the civil rights and 80s everyone's a winner inclusion propaganda. It's so much worse today which in a.aense.makes it easier because it's more obvious and ham fisted. The subtlety was how the subversives used to get you.

Your mind is litrally constantly battling entropy both mentally and physically. That's why to be racist you need to be high IQ and have a lot of brainpower
