Is it worth learning about maths and science, if you don't have any natural aptitude?

This morning I realized that I mind was resteless and unable to arrive at any satisfactory conclusions. You always hear that people who are into mathematics and science feel a sense of closure from having understood something.

Now, I do wonder if increasing your understanding of mathematics, even as a total layperson, is a benefit in the same way that working out can be of benefit to the person, who certainly won't reach a level of athleticism anywhere close to a professional. Or, is it a waste of time and is the energy better spent on something else?

I only want to hear from people that do understand anything about these topics. Not retarded pessimistic doomer troll posters.

it's not even worth it if you have it

Could be true. I guess, it can be beneficial, only if one has a clear practical goal in mind, such as building a house, etc..

So, what is the purpose of maths then?

Too banal a question to even consider.

it depends on what your goal is

because being able to solve complex math problems requires a different skillset from understanding theorems and how they are connected to each other

because with the first the nuance is in methods and "tricks" that you will inevitably forget the minute you stop practicing anyway, but that's what most people define as being good at math

I don't care about being "good at maths", rather about whether it moves a person forward in a general understanding of the world.
