even the “hood” people who swear that they hate white people, deep down, they still crave that exact lifestyle. the stable two parent household. the big clean house in a quiet suburb where the worst thing that happens is a mailbox getting knocked over. the huge highschool with its own football field, marching band, swim team, wrestling mats, actual funding, actual school spirit. the type of place where kids bike around at night with no fear because nothing bad ever happens there. everyone knows what that archetype is. the “american movie” hometown. the one with block parties, safe sidewalks, polite neighbors waving from their lawns, kids allowed to stay out late because the environment is safe. no chaos, no noise, no desperation. it’s not even about being “white.” it’s about wanting access to the lifestyle that white americans, statistically, were simply allowed to have more consistently. the structure. the safety. the social capital. the big well funded schools where everyone knows they’ll graduate and go off to college or something decent. the environment where you can actually be a kid instead of knowing the brutals of the world growing up. even the ones screaming the loudest about rejecting ‘whiteness’ still secretly fantasize about growing up in that environment. the upper middle template shaped by global media. not even out of racism, but out of wanting the privilege of peace, stability, and opportunity that their environment never gave them. what they actually want is the conditions, not the race. the race just happens to be associated with the conditions because of how america was built. that’s what people are longing for, not whiteness itself, but the safety and stability that whiteness, in the american system, was handed by default
