I was running errands today and went to the drugstore to pick up a few things (not makeup..lol). As I was approaching the register, the young woman behind the counter exclaimed, "Oh my God, I love your makeup!". I, of course, thanked her (more than once), as the only person who compliments my makeup is my husband.
As an almost 50 year old woman, this was such a shock and a pleasant surprise! Especially from a young woman in her twenties.
I don't do "clean girl". I do full face glam, but tone it down for daily wear. The girl in question was wearing a bare face (or what appeared to be bare) with just lash extensions.
I guess the younger generation appreciates the "old" esthetic.
We are BACK bitches! 😁
Obviously, this post is in jest and everyone regardless of age and generation should wear what they like and feel comfortable with. I just wanted to share my happy experience today.
EDIT: A few people have asked for a picture of my look and/or a product list. I don't think this sub allows pictures, and I'm not one to post myself on the internet. However, I am happy to share the makeup I use.
Foundation: IT Cosmetics CC Cream
Concealer: IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye (upper and lower lids), Cover Girl Clean Invisible Concealer (on redness and facial spots).
Powders: IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores (to set upper and lower lids), Clinique Blended Face Powder in Invisible (to set rest of the face).
Eyeshadow: Too Faced Born This Way Nudes palette. I use the shades towards the left side of the palette (I'm pale) to create a modified cut crease. A shimmer shade is a must in the inner third of my lid, up to the crease, to add brightness and glitter!
Bronzer/Contour: The Balm Bahama Mama
Blush: The Balm Desert and Clinique Cheek Pop in Black Honey
Highlight: I use Sterling Minerals Foundation for a matte highlight under the eyes, under cheekbones, center on my forehead, and down my nose. I also use it to clean up my eyeshadow and contour.I use the shades Bianca and Jennifer.
Lips: Burt's Bees lipgloss in the squeeze tube. I tried to find the shade online, but I don't think they make this product anymore. I've had it for a minute...lol. It's a watermelon shade.
I also use Burt's Bees tinted lip balm in Red Dahlia often. I need MOISTURE as my lips get dry!
I have pale, neutral olive skin that leans slightly warm. Green eyes and dyed/bleached blonde hair.
I hope this helps!

That’s so great!!!! I totally get how you feel!!
I was at the gas station once. The lady looks up to take my money and all of sudden is like - “Oh my goodness!! You look like a porcelain doll!!” I’m like, “Oh, yeah, I know I’m really pale.” (Used to people telling me all the time 😒). She’s like, “No!!! Yeah, you’re pale. But I meant your skin looks perfect! Smooth and flawless like a porcelain doll!” I was like, “Oh…OH! Thank you so much!!!” And thanked her a few more times and she just kept insisting how smooth and beautiful my skin looked. She said she’d “never seen makeup look so smooth and flawless!”
So yes, the rest of the day I did feel like a gorgeous goddess walking around with my head held high!!!
Next day I was back on solid ground again. But DANG, what a great feeling I had the rest of the day after that lady’s compliments!!!
We all should do our best to compliment people whenever we can. Lift each other up!!! I did it sometimes before when I’d see someone who randomly caught my eye. I don’t pay much attention to random people around me when I’m out. I pay enough attention to not run into someone but that’s about it. So if someone happens to catch my eye, I say something! Most of the time it goes over well - they seem so happy to hear it and I LOVE that! Makes me happy to see someone else smile and make their day even a little better. But there’s been times people didn’t seem to appreciate it 😂 Once I told someone I loved their eyeshadow look and she told me it was creepy to notice something like that and creepy to say something like that to someone I don’t know. 🙄 Not sure how a woman with full glam makeup - so I’m obviously into makeup - complimenting another woman’s eyeshadow look can be seen as creepy. But everyone has a right to their own feelings about things. 😒 I felt like saying - “Um, I’m so sorry I happened to notice your bright, bold, colorful eyeshadow look. How could I notice such a thing unless I’m a creeper! And to comment you on how good it looks?! The audacity!!” But I just apologized 🤷♀️🥴 Another time I complimented someone on their makeup looking so good. The foundation looked great and the blush shade was perfect for her and I asked what it was. She told me I was rude and inappropriate to point out her makeup. Obviously I was being sarcastic because if I noticed she was wearing foundation, it must not actually look good. I was like no, I wasn’t being sarcastic at all! And no, noticing foundation doesn’t mean it doesn’t look good and natural on your skin. It’s foundation that seems like it’s got good coverage, so it’s normal to know someone is wearing it but still possible to look great and natural on the skin. She told me how wrong I was about that. - Honestly, the foundation looked so good and natural on her, I wouldn’t have even known she was wearing any if she didn’t have some freckles and a kind of beauty mark that you could see had foundation over them. But she wasn’t having it. 🤷♀️🤣
But, aside from a few really odd reactions, most people seem to love hearing it, and I get it because I sure do!!
