The reason it is not appealing to him is because he has strong convictions about topics of science and technology without a logical framework that leads to robust justifications, so of course, having the "severe retards" raise questions and bring up information in a field that is deep waters to him should be extremely frustrating. 

Moreso science relies on empirical evidence so his usual strawmanning and ad hominems fall short. Ofc he thinks he wins every argument ever, so that's not fun at all.
