Vidya like PES and Call of Duty are complimentary to socializing, whereas those MMORPG cancer vidya like WoW, lineage etc are for rotters to invest all their free time and money to build something in a virtual reality to fill the void from their failed life.

I was in category 1 when I first started but quickly shifted to 2 and never stopped.

in first world sense yeah probably, south korea and  maybe japan(too?) could have lan cafe as cultural phenomenon.
otherwise its poor countries where most ppl dont have pcs, living in third world sucks but i feel like gaming is ez way to make friends. i made fuckton online/off in my city.
maybe mobile gaming is more social now.

LAN cafes are not much of a thing here at least but we would always like bring our laptops and crash at a friends house for a few days of like hardcore grinding at some comp game

Did this for CSGO mostly

And like, nearly every guy in my class played at least either CSGO, League or another Chinese MOBA. If you weren't you were the oddball no one would hang out with you outside of classes

I had a neat device up until 1988, which was a Philips monitor that was connected to a separate Tuner, which you could press and get television on your monitor instead of the computer screen.
