pick a topic you are interested in then start by reading philosophical articles from the online encyclopedias on it

then maybe take it from there dig further in

russells book albeit very readable is too dense

I read up until the early christian stuff a few years ago (then interrupted by some other stuff I had going on and never returned) but if you asked me anything specific about the book I wouldnt be able to answer you.

That's because its hard to make a memorable impression to someone on topics new to them that they are naturally not interested in.

In order:

Pre-Socratics - Find an anthology.
Plato and Aristotle - Find an anthology.
Locke - An Essay on Human Understanding
Descartes - Meditations
Kant - Selections from Critique of Pure Reason and Critique of Judgment.
Husserl - Selections from Ideas
Freud - Introductory Lectures

Don't try to understand them just read the words and if you get stuck keep going.

Pre-Socratics: Discuss the nature of reality.
Plato and Aristotle: Discuss humans thinking about the nature of reality.
Locke: You are sensation.
Descartes: You are not sensation.
Kant: You are sensation and are not sensation.
Husserl: What did Kant assume
Freud: What did Kant assume
