if you have any morality, there are only 3 ways to keep your conscience clean:
1. working alone. completely alone. being a one-man team. - the hardest option, but the only one that's favoured by statistics in the context of the thread
2. being a business/company owner and only hiring people that happen to be on the same page with you regarding the moral compass and ethics - somewhat easier on paper, but much harder to accomplish in reality/statistically
3. hoping you end up in a team/company whose members share your beliefs, mindset, morality, worldview - statistically extremely unlikely
it's all rosy when you start working at a law firm consisting of your friends and acquaintances you thought were just as moral/ethical and competent as you are. the problem arises a year or two later (you start having second thoughts within weeks, but it takes more time for you to realize those aren't gonna go away, but just become more intense and frequent), when you realize your colleagues:
- are dumber than you (not a sin/something to judge people for "per se", ofc), while refusing to admit it to themselves and rationalizingly (this should be a word in english) yapping about all kinds of "reasons" that "justify" their failures, from "the judges/people hate me because i'm successful" (the most vomit inducing one if you ask me) to "i'm extremely unlucky" and "i can't believe no one recognizes my greatness" (while 99% of their efforts are focused on basically scamming people, which is the behavior everyone with half a brain can sense)
- are greedier and more materialistic than you
- have 0 problems with, without any indication of them possessing self-awareness, saying stuff like "i'm not just indifferent to corruption, i actually believe thieves and scammers should be rewarded, specially if they work in governmental agencies/institutions"
- are, without any second thoughts, trying to squeeze 3 EUR more out of literal peasants and people in retirement with minimal pensions, all while having like 450k EUR on their bank accounts, 20+ real estate properties and 10 other sources of income (acquired by previous immoral behavior)
at this point, my only dilemma is between these options:
1. being (trying to be, more precisely) diplomatic and peacefully, without any raised tones, telling them i'm out and intend to go on on my own/at a different firm (much less likely, because i could make money by just putting a table with my name in front of an office)
2. stopping being an invertebrate and telling them how disgusting they are, reporting them for all the illegal or borderline illegal diarrhea inducing stuff they've done to all institutions from the police to tax administration, and proceeding by nuking their reputation in the eyes of every person within the profession, all just because they made me sick to my stomach
i know retards on this forum will interpret this as the underlying reason of my recent (effortless) sadistic humiliation of @Honest and @Munificent, but i just thought: why not share this here when it's already a hot topic and this has been bothering me for a while
