i've been using a legal database (commercial) account belonging to and tied to the president of the appelate court in my country, but today i automatically opened all tabs with links to it from one of my bookmarks folder (so 40-50 tabs at once), and the system recognized the irregularity and blocked the account, saying an e-mail will be sent to the owner to confirm if there's been a violation

i'm guessing she (the owner) will change the password, but can the owner of the database detect it was me using it based on my ip? i wasnt using vpn/tor. the firm that owns the database is known for going after people who do this, as its products are pretty high quality and expensive

can they find the physical locations i ve been using it on (home, office, courtroom)? the laptop is not like a car, registered to your name

are you using your home ip?
are you using personal emails? and if they're at any way logged to any governmental site?
they probably wont do anything, because they'd require some kind of judicial request, usually it's your isp that can truly track your down because your internet is to your name (or maybe in case of parents' name)

i never use personal emails unless necessary, but i have an account on that same site with my real personal info

hopefully they won't care enough to go after me

nah. i just need access to databases containing laws, verdicts, academic papers and similar useful material (templates etc)
