I figured this out a long time ago
you need to acquire as much knowledge as possible. the better you understand the world around you, the better you can adapt and deal with everything. you can put things into context, understand the underlying reasons for why things are the way that they are, and know what can and can't be improved upon by you. you can plan accordingly.
there's nothing worse than being ignorant and mentally void. you're just like a person lost in a forest when you're like that, completely aimless.
