you can't listen to Scriabin unless you are sitting down and focused on (only like his piano symphony) it's total apples and oranges.

Scriabin is one of the most famous composers of all time why would I name drop him for ego hes just my favourite composer and has complex music which demonstrates the gap between now and then. And yea, what I said about loops and percussion applies to pop too. Like Dua Lipa or whatever. 

Rachmaninoff (any soviet composer really... Medtner IE), Chopin, Liszt, and also other unknown composer who I couldve named if I wanted to prove my sophistication all prove this point anyways. And this music was all mainstream...

And if you just listen to music for ambience, then I dont consider that in its artistic value. If youd rather sit and listen to some Dua Lipa for the sake of it, over a Scriabin sonata, thats just shows to me the mental damage caused by modern society (decrease in the ability of the ear, emotional apathy...) Nothing against you... dont want to make this discussion personal...

And yea, you're probably right about science, I doubt it was ever honourable in the first place, so I digress on that point.

And I have no idea who jordan tate is, but I was just using supplements as an example to prove a point. But like I said, dont care about that point anymore, science was always jewed.

I can kind of see your point if you extrapolate from music to artistic appreciation in general, modern society definitely being less appreciative of aesthetic beauty

though that kind of music specifically, exist in a pure form in the elites for maybe 300 years? nothing special to human expeirence in an of itself. Music too. I haven't ice skated/watched a movie in months, doesn't make me an idiot/degraded lifeform 

if anything more people now appreciate than ever, the highest porportion of the population probably liked classical around 1950. There a classical music school near here and it's semi common for kids to be in school for oboe or smth. Ppl compose in the old style more than ever.

Firstly, Scriabin is significantly more famous than Medtner, but thats besides the point. I promise you its not a gatekeeping shit test, if I wanted to do that, I'd name someone else.


As for the "growing community" of classical music, it is true that its pretty popular, actually, even amongst some groups of normies; that doesnt mean they appreciate it like its supposed to be appreciated. From what I can tell, this generation of musicians are lukewarm appreciators of the classics. They know its complex, they know its sentimental, but they dont grasp or even care about its profundity; they're good at reading music, might have decent technique with their instrument, but they might listen to half a symphony until they get bored and put on some ed sheeran. Or maybe they listen, half heartedly, to a whole symphony, but then require their dopamine to be spiked again by some pop anyways. Theres a very small amount of people who ponder beyond the music, who care about the history and are willing to learn about the lives and philosophies of composers or great musical figureheads. Who read about the history and designers EVEN OF THEIR OWN INSTRUMENTS. Ask a pianist Celementi's legacy, and they'll consider him just another classical composer, little do they know...   They just listen and play, but refuse to go any deeper to understand the music. 

How do I know? Because I've been in multiple, large circles of these communities, both in person and online, and very, very, very rarely find an outlier. 

Then you might say: "but who are you to say how they should experience music?". To that I say, I never did say they have to do anything. But, I am judging them for it, and I explained clearly why I believe their attitude towards music demonstrates a deterriorated ability to appreciate aesthetics, complexity, sentiment, philosophy, and history, therefore demonstrating them to be what I'd consider "unintelligent" and therefore leaving me disappointed with the state of the "musical community".

Also, yes, people these days compose in old style, sure. Except... why? To emmulate it, thats why, and therefore it comes out sounding completely flat. Any real modern composers, who actually express themselves by putting the harmony in their mind to the harmony on the piano, rather than rearranging the harmony of Chopin's mind, go unappreciated. 

And sure, listen to your ambient dua lipa, but dont act like you even believe it can compare to anything scriabin, rachmaninoff, or anyone else of their caliber ever wrote in any musical way other than hedonism and dopamine farming.

though i am skeptical of the idea that professional musicians have ever been super into it as a whole. I can see the arguement of attention spans decreasing, dopamine addiction, but classically trained musicians probably had similar motives, status related for past few centuries. 

you seem aspie with your special interest being music (no offense intended, i respect that)

but most people don't have it to be a professional and also have a passion for smth, professional chefs go home and eat hungry man tv dinners.

i've seen modern composers who were arguably very good, and yea they aren't appreciated, but technology democratcized it to the extent anyone anywhere hypothetically could (not that they do) compose their own complex music and have software play it (nooooo artistry nooooo technique)
