You can tell the state of a game by its champions. Bobby Fischer: a philosopher, a political theorist, a man of fortitude and belief in himself with no care for the perverted expectations of society; a man who fought over the board for the dignity of his nation. Meanwhile, these days, Hikaru: a libtard fat stoner twitch streamer who can barely string together a conherent sentence outside of chess, and Magnus, a down syndrome looking subhuman, who compares himself to the universe, but is in reality just a drunk who has never played an internationally impactful game of chess in his life; a degenerate who stopped caring about winning, but keeps playing just for groupies. Zero integrity, zero manhood, zero real inteligence. 100% fraud.

This game has deteriorated to a level of degeneracy equal to pornography, honestly, its just mental masturbation but with no positive effect on the world like the sciences or philosophy. Its just: "who can study more, for absolutely zero reason".

cringe take

chess is just a board game, there's nothing special about it. As to why it appeared "classier" in the past, it is because everything appeared "classier" in the past, a completely different time setting with different societal and cultural norms. I'm putting classy in quotation marks because the term is a social construct, there can not be explicit use of the adjective.

I don't get why you are trying to be reactionary and controversial, your roast of Magnus and Hikaru is so forced and needless here. At least when Fischer was trashing chess about its modern state, he had the credentials to back himself up. I can't take anyone who is not at least GM seriously when they say those things.

lol, sure, im not qualified to make the objective analysis that fischer played as a part of an international war, while magnus and hikaru play just cause theyre idiot savants, because im not a GM.

u give me anti-intellectual intellectual vibes, i have a valid opinion, and u just felt like putting urself above me for the sake of it, but u made no real point.

and no, im not falling for some romanticization of the old era, i dont care about that old
head garbage. its just a fact that now we have computers, and therefore we now we have advanced objective theory, therefore significantly less creativity is required; its boring. Why is Magnus the best of all time, but never played any sequences that compare to the beauty of Tal, Nezh, Fischer, blanca...? Computers and theory, thats why. Its boring, and its soulless.

no better way than starting off with the strawman

if you think that about chess it is fine, just know that you are not making a correct assessment

engines if anything diversified the game by proving many variations that were previously thought as impossible to play, are actually playable

magnus doesn't have beautiful games? yeah, right...

The reason you don't see people sacrificing 3 pieces and then winning in high level games nowadays isn't that they lack creativity, but simply because the players nowadays are sound enough defensively to be able to hold off at such sharp positions

Chess, especially blitz and rapid, is more interesting than ever because the players are better than ever. Classic has always been pretty lackluster, it personally doesn't interest me. You can't act like Fischer played "creatively" in his World Chess Championship matches. And no, it's just a board game.
