why is the culture of this site so toxic?

genuinely toxic users who have hate in their bones are actually rare, and i think that goes for most forums

once you can separate genuine malice from shit talking, and then just filter out the former, it's hard to get worked up over anything you read online, because you realize it's just coming from a place of irrational hatred. it can obviously still affect you, like you said, but it's much harder to get worked up over it
