higher ups at work telling me to apply to higher level positions

they don't want me to be content working a lower level job that takes maybe 10% of my thinking to do. they want to put me into positions that require more thinking and pay better. i understand their point of view, but it's kinda wild how they are straight up telling me to do it and even giving me suggestions on which jobs i should apply for. why can't they be happy with me being lazy.
