it annoyed me and i think i refused to give a basic answer.
of course there are grades to people chasing recognition and validation, but just lol at the idea that some do it exclusively for "internal purposes" when it's clear as day in everyone's head that doing good, important, useful stuff = getting treated better by others = having a more pleasant life.
the only difference between these groups is that some people are so desperate for validation that they can't contain themselves and end up being perceived as cringe, shallow, insecure, and some are capable of managing it. it's just that the difference between those groups is usually exacerbated by a positive correlation between incapacity to regulate yourself and incapacity to really contribute and/or succeed in society and become a respected, important member of it.
fucking lol at people who think giga geniuses were some modest chill dudes who did it "to feel better about themselves", and feel 0 need for anyone to recognize their greatness. this is so dumb, delusional and naive that it enters the tier of basic "manosphere" tropes like "hot women are nicer than the average and ugly ones", "men are the rational gender", "being 6ft11 is better than being 6ft3".
