I have always thought of being a judge as an old man's game, the last hoorah before you throw in the towel.

you can become one in your early 30s if you do everything right. but that's first instance courts only, there are legal requirements including like 10+ years of experience to become an appelate court judge, and 12-15 (i think, i cant bother remembering all these sometimes lowkey arbitrary regs) for the supreme court (and US, VKS, VTS, VUS in my country)

but yeah, on a basic level, that's how i perceive it as well. after becoming one and experiencing the job, i realized it feels like early retirement if you are not some 60 yo+ fart who want's to cope with being a walking corpse by being a muh judge at a muh higher instance court.
