why is it "allowed" to divide by 2?

i went to a catholic school and we unironically had to do 'confession' once a month.

jfl at that and all the other catholic rituals.

had to do one when i was my cousin's godfather for his first holy communion; 

when i sat next to the priest (it was not in those closed cabins because there were too many people, so we'd just sit on a chair next to him), instead of starting to recite that ridiculous bullshit, i looked at him and asked him "do you realize how stupid all this is?". 

he stopped for a moment and then asked me why did i come if i didnt "believe" and/or had a negative opinion about it. 

i said "because i wanted to tell you this to your face. now please say the words i m supposed to say and i ll repeat them after you and then say what my sins were". 

he did that, i repeated the fixed schizo intro and then said i'm holier than christ and have never committed a single sin in my life. 

he asked me "are you sure? it's not a shame to admit you did something sinful", to which i responded: "i'm as sure of that as i'm sure you are imagining you are fucking 8 yo kids every time you are jerking off. are we done with this circus?". 

he said: i guess we are. i stood up and left. he seemed like a nice guy.
