I believe they don't want you to understand what they are saying on purpose, not to interpret the scripture in a way that goes against the communion.

Not that the avg frequenting masses is capable of understanding anything anyway. the priests could tell them to bonesmash to become god's favorites and they d do it without much convincing needed
