That's biology denialism. We are hardwired to seek environments which are conducive to our survival. As environment can inform our thoughts, being in an unsuitable environment creates tensions and traumas that harm our reproductive success and general wellbeing. I believe he is coping because he has not foreseen the modern environment. In his time he can walk away from town and be immersed in wild inside of 5 minutes.
