Fiction creates dissociation, it makes people even less likely or willing to acknowledge the pervasive desolation around us. That is often it's intended effect as a tool of soocialization and pacification. f you want to combat this so called "privilege" I keep hearing liberals complain about, 15 minutes of gore daily exposure for children will do the trick.
