Bad art is vague and indistinguishable. It relies on the viewer to come up with their own interpretation and has no identifiable key or pattern by which you can figure out it's underlying message if indeed any even exists. It's a self indulgent tour of the artist's mind but it's empty.
A good example is david lynches movies, once you figure it out there is no other possible explanation. There is an intended message and it may not be a complex one, but the journey towards understanding that message opens your mind to many ideas and possibilities. His paintings on the other hand is just pastiche of france's bacon with no deeper meaning beyond that. And anyone who claims they are able to decipher or derive something from his paintings is just obvious full of shit and trying to appear like they know something you don't
lynch movies are ironically pretty boring tbh. cool ,,style'' but shit stories from what i remember
