I realized the secret to happiness is to identify your insecurity and make connections with those that are the opposite

These connections can form naturally, but do they come to its full effect and are they used strategically? I don't think so, cause it requires overcoming shame and pride.

A fat girl may not want to be around a thin girl, cause she would rather not be reminded of being too fat, yet she could benefit from the association with the thin girl socially. This only works, if the fat girl also has something to offer, maybe ability to relax, courage and extroversion. So that answers your question in the post before.

Now, this basic bonding is common sense, but it goes against the thinking of an insecure, narcissistic person, who would rather avoid being around those that are in any aspect superior to them.
