Quote:Schizoid personality disorder (/ˈskɪtsɔɪd, ˈskɪdzɔɪd, ˈskɪzɔɪd/, often abbreviated as SPD or SzPD) is a personality disorder characterized by a lack of interest in social relationships, a tendency toward a solitary or sheltered lifestyle, secretiveness, emotional coldness, detachment and apathy. Affected individuals may be unable to form intimate attachments to others and simultaneously possess a rich and elaborate but exclusively internal fantasy world.[6][12] Other associated features include stilted speech, a lack of deriving enjoyment from most activities, feeling as though one is an "observer" rather than a participant in life, an inability to tolerate emotional expectations of others, apparent indifference when praised or criticized, a degree of asexuality, and idiosyncratic moral or political beliefs.[13] Symptoms typically start in late childhood or adolescenc
That sounds like me since 1 year ago when I gave up on women , I dont care about girlfriends or friends anymore either.
Although I have never been diagnosed with anything other than depression
I think we shouldnt take these "disorders" so seriously though, I mean almost everyone would fit in to some DSM description of whatever "disorder"
yeah, this "disorder" is weaker than conditions like schizophrenia or clinical depression. it's more of a quirk
and my doc always tells me what you said - these diagnoses are just approximations, taking them too literally and seriously is just wrong and leads to developing limiting beliefs. psychiatry is still very young as a serious academic discipline
You're quite right, it makes sense that these diagnoses can lead to developing limiting beliefs, since as they can be taken very literally and thus make decisions based on the traits of the diagnosis alone.
Psychiatry is very young, but I've heard some people state that's it's a completely fake science while others just saying that some diagnosis may be fake. I personally think for now that psychiatry is quite legit since their diagnoses match a lot with what patients suffer or have. A lot of diagnoses seem to overlap a lot (like executive dysfunction and add for byspel).
