‘Entitlement’ is one of those words that has lost its meaning due to misuse by dumbfucks. When people use ‘entitled’ pejoratively, they actually mean ‘over-entitled’; being ‘entitled’ means having the right or power to do or have something.
Did a little research and, unsurprisingly, the use of the term shifted during the latter half of the 20th century, when the American government wanted to start removing social programs (‘entitlement programs’).

Now, there’s a lot of people with the attitude of ‘I’m not entitled to anything; I’ll work for everything myself!’ Which is fine if you’re living on the American frontier in the 1800s… But in every other environment, this attitude just leads to the citizenry getting ass-raped by government and corporations.
