lets say thats not a negative, but the reasons being materialistic and fabian were (eugenics, state worship)
now, the holy see saw in germany and the axis a possibility of hope against the bigger evil of a hegelian antichrist-ian state (that was, ussr, marxism.) - the anglos, or particularly the british, saw germany specifically as a buffer between them and the east, the americans similarly, albeit much more isolationist, so indifferent in a sense
it became a huge problem for the holy see when natsoc germany invaded poland, because the very leader of the military order, or the black pope, as a polish himself started to have a strong dislike for hitler, and it was a huge problem for the anglos when hitler made a pact with the ussr, which was also seen as a betrayal by the pope
anglos were jewish lapdogs, same with the us, that's why they joined the soviets in fighting hitler after the most minimal cajoling. they saw germany as an upstart that would completely overshadow them, so better listen to the jews and join commies and destroying them
the religious dimension is completely irrelevant, at that level of statecraft, no one cares what popes and religious figures are saying or doing
