Yeah, they've had problems with the Kurds for a long time though.

I find ironic the rivalry between Kurds and Turks since
if I'm not mistaken lots of Turks already are assimilated Kurds or at least Kurd-speakers that adopted Turkish in the past. Also the old Turkish states like the Seljuk Sultanate and the Ottomans were very persian-like, and were very eager to adopt persian customs and borrow words from persian (if I'm not mistaken).
