Romantic or Classical period pieces I can get down with

Baroque to me though feels like some hotel filled with gold furniture and velvet red carpeting everywhere. It's too glamorous, too "royalty". With the amount of stereotypical Baroque playing in cheesy "hollywood-fancy" scenes, it's hard to disassociate it through my modern mind with the image of an overly exaggerated royal palace and environment. When you litter something with too much riches, it becomes showy and cheap

I have a similar image but that's exactly why I like it.   It feels camp to embrace that aesthetic in 2025. I don't like Romantic music but maybe largely because I can't play it as well. I am mainly just thinking about Liszt, Chopin, Schumann. Their music is arguably more overblown in a different way. Too much about showmanship and virtuosity for its own sake and overwrought sentimentality.
