The way fiat works is that the government needs a way to get some people to work for the government.
So their way of doing it is: "From now on there's taxes to pay... or else... And the only way to pay the tax is with our dollars... And the only way to get our dollars is to work for us. There, that should work."
So it has nothing to do with magical faith. But you just admitted: "Yo, without this faith, both USD and BTC would be fucked lol."
