Indo-malays are from SEA themselves actually, only the South Indians here are form Tamil Nadu, some from Kerala. The Chinese are mostly of southern descent.
As for the globalist thing, one thing that is interesting is studying abroad has become less popular and alot of the people here choose to study in places like Taiwan rather than Western countries due to the decline in Western reputation and living conditions ( news of riots, high crime, high cost of safety etc. ) compared to back home
