'The French Michelin reviewers think all good food needs to be smothered in butter, duck fat, and truffle oil, and topped off with some goat cheese and caviar and served with some beetroot and lobster on the side. They expect the food stacked into layers with contrasting colors. In the era of globalization, they are fading into irrelevance.'

'At one point I was pretty wrapped up in the whole Michelin rated restaurant thing. I haven’t been to a ton of them, but definitely my fair share. The thing is that all of these restaurants try so desperately to make something unique, they use avante garde techniques, and hard to find ingredients. The problem here is that the result is something that doesn’t always taste very good. Most of these meals were fairly unmemorable and frequently just kind of bad. In my experience the Michelin guide is a great way to find food that looks pretty, doesn’t taste amazing, and costs a fortune. It’s to a point now where I actively avoid these experiences.'

'Michelin and the elitist fine dining consortium don’t really understand cuisines outside of European and maybe Japanese.'

i spoil myself at the outback steakhouse, red lobster, or sizzler.

michelin crap is just gaslighting/scam targeting gullible people who need an authority to tell them what tastes good so they can pretend they're special hahaha
