tbh, the chimping out isn't really the users' fault, it's just ppl start prefering forums cuz it's a safe way to turn ur inner demons into punching bags, the projecting of said demons unto other posters is what leads to breakdowns and drama.

in german you say Eigentor, it's a masochistic own goal, if you were confident in your irl role you wouldn't have the instinct to project ur inner demons unto a benevolent person, like a usually nice forum poster, instead you would just punch your actual enemies, while exuding an aura of success, like you do during your best posting sessions.
