She kept flirting with me at work, getting more touchy recently, called me "good looking" ("I saw you as a dark horse when you first joined the company, and I thought you would use your good looks to get ahead of me"), and then she kept hinting she wanted to hang out on the weekend because she has no one to go to a new restaurant with. So we went yesterday, and it was pretty apparent it wasn't a date but more of a "clearing the air" type of thing. There are three things I did at work that she holds against me, 1) I insulted her outfit one day 2) I called her 'secretary' 3) I apparently threw her under the bus when the CEO questioned us about something.
She's still very mistrustful of me (and in general) and thinks I have ill intent
She also keeps commenting that my dad is a misogynist and she doesn't ever want to meet him. She thinks I have "toxic masculinity" and many traits that I took after him. And btw most of her values are 'western modern conservative' (she's East European and is very conspiracy theory-oriented) so don't confuse the things she said there with where she stands politically etc
Anyway after all that's happened to me in the last year, I'm at that stage where I'm leaning more towards "It's my personality!"
But you can't forget one thing, if you had Jon Erik Hexum's looks, that same personality would be another one. She would also overlook the fact that you're making less money than her, have a lack of ambition and are an aimless wanderer, etc.
And that's exactly why looks theory will always prevail
