Probably something miniscule happens to him but he dies anyways  and has no one to check on him so his rotting corpse is found months later after the stench spreads.

during a walk at the exact moment he looks up at the sun and sees some baby ducks, he cracks a smile and realizes life isn't so bad after all & resolves to improve himself. right at that moment a car swerves to avoid a flock of crossing ducks and hits him instead
